Producers spoke about a number of unresolved issues, with the main problem for meat producers being the certification process and obtaining all necessary accompanying documents. Business owners are requesting that the process be simplified and streamlined, as collecting all required documents and stamps takes a lot of time and creates opportunities for corruption. Additionally, they expressed concerns about the VAT on imported breeding material, which significantly increases the final cost of the product. This makes it difficult for many farmers to afford good breeding animals and creates a barrier for increasing the population of breeding cattle in Kyrgyzstan, including for export.
Representatives of the meat and dairy industry also raised the issue of the need for modern training for farmers in feeding technology, livestock management, storage, and production of meat and meat products. Due to a lack of education in the country, the livestock population is not increasing, and the quality of the meat is declining.
The head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry acknowledged the problems and pledged to make every effort to resolve them. To ensure that lobbying for industry interests is carried out within a legal framework, it was proposed to create a new committee and systematize urgent issues, as well as create a roadmap for their step-by-step resolution.
